expresarlo."

Painting has not been phagocytized by digital media as other arts such as Music, Literature, Photography, Cinema, and also a large part of Science and other areas of Human Knowledge have been to a greater or lesser extent. Painting defends itself bravely and with clean claws from the unstoppable digitalization of almost everything; the pictorial plane is a field sown with colors, textures, and forms that are born, reproduce, and die like another living being. In this intrinsic biology of Painting, in this emotional palpitation that rhythmically changes before our eyes in an almost imperceptible way, its secret, its freedom, are hidden, as they are hidden in a sumptuous and unpredictable storm that envelops and overwhelms us or in a gentle river that brings us its delicate course from the clean spring from which it springs. Digitalization, in art, is another tool, a new means for expression and evocation but it cannot usurp the changing chemistry of the internal life of a painting.
When observing a painting, there is a dazzling concatenation of states that culminate in what we call ART: there is a path that initially starts from the work -gestated by human thought and technique-, passes through the eye, to be subsequently deciphered by the mind in whose bosom the sublime experience of art is created. But even if it were not sublime, even if it were just a simple painting, the mental process exists in the same way so that its changes, its unevenness in texture, the deposited light that varies its color depending on the more or less oblique angle from which we look at it, finally regulate and give meaning and form to a mental and sensory experience that is alive and impossible to capture in a digital file. It could be that artificial intelligence, which already tries, finally manages to deceive us and create living and changing pictorial media and spaces in what is proper to Painting -color, shape, and texture- so that it seems to us to be facing something real and unique; it is the same dilemma as that of the robot, which no matter how perfect it is, does not reach the human.
As long as they are tools for humans, there will be no dilemma, but if the tool surpasses it, then we will undoubtedly be in another area that probably will no longer be of interest to discuss because it would be doing so with a new reality, although bifurcated and born from ours, but already with its own life and new codes. Then there will be no room for doubt, nor error, there will be no different perceptions, nor emotions; there will be no spirituality or breathing and it will undoubtedly be a new world governed by other rules impossible to judge from human biology: it would be like trying to judge whether a bird of paradise should have a pearly beak and multicolored wings or should have hands and an alien mouth.
Painting is in this. It is pure life, the pulp of light that tinkles on a plane. And its digital vision on a computer or any reproduction medium will never be more than a distant echo of its powerful presence.
